Such a great way of really submerging one self in the moment!

I tend to get so involved in the moment that I end up slapping my thigh. The young adults round me love to copy me which means I end up laughing harder and so on! Even the thought of these moments gets me chuckling again.

There really is nothing better in my humble opinion.
But, did you know it also does the following according to a website called ‘Daring to live fully’ – awesome name hey?! I quote:

Laughter causes you to gulp in large portions of air, thereby oxygenating your blood.
Laughter decreases stress hormones in the body such as cortisol and adrenaline, thus helping to stave off illness.
Laughter strengthens the immune system.
When we laugh our bodies release hormones and chemicals that have positive effects on our system. One of these chemicals is endorphins, the feel-good hormone.
One minute of laughing burns the same number of calories as 6 to 10 minutes on a treadmill.
Laughing raises your mood; joyfulness through laughter is the fastest way to create a positive state of mind.
Laughing is good for the heart and improves blood circulation.
Laughter can reduce pain and aid the healing process.
Laughter creates and strengthens human connections.
It feels good to laugh.

So, how can we access more of it – google ‘Dad jokes’ for starters, join a laughter yoga group (Yes, it’s a thing!), watch a comedy movie or live, think about a funny time in your life or try the semi dangerous option of playing a board game which can go either way!

I encourage you to get out there, experience JOY, escape for a bit, burn off some calories, get the blood pumping, decrease the stress hormones and really stop, breathe (cos’ you’re going to need to!) and really submerge yourself in the NOW.

Happy laughing all!
